Cotton University, Assam, is a recognized SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter (LC ID: 3224).

The SWAYAM unit at Cotton University began in late 2019 from Room BKB 006 (History Department). It later shifted to the GAD Section, MCB Building (December 2022), and is currently located in Room MCB 019 (near the Pro VC’s office) since September 2023.

Cotton University has been actively partnering with NPTEL since 7 November 2019.

Policies Adopted

• The Academic Council (21 Feb 2020) approved MOOCs for credit transfer.

• The Executive Council passed an ordinance for MOOC Credit Transfer under CBCS (Resolution No. EC/2021/19/03).

In line with NEP 2020, Cotton University has integrated SWAYAM to widen access to quality online education.

Student Enrolment Highlights

2020:

• 278 students from 9 departments successfully earned MOOC credits.

• Cotton University was awarded "Best Local Chapter" in Arts, Science & Commerce category (Jan-Dec 2020).

2021:

• 735 students from 19 departments (including research scholars) completed MOOCs for credit transfer.

• 174 students passed MOOCs under Add-On courses.

2022:

• 177 students (Jan-June semester) and 176 students (July-Dec semester) completed MOOCs for credit transfer.

• 60 students passed Add-On MOOCs.

2023:

• 22 students (Jan-June semester) and 99 students (July-Dec semester) successfully earned MOOC credits.

• 4 MCA students completed Add-On courses.

2024 :

• 27 UG students from the MBBT Department completed MOOCs for credit transfer.

2025 (Jan-June) :

• 15 PG students from the MBBT Department are pursuing MOOC for credit transfer.

• In a first, 27 students from various departments are pursuing VAC through SWAYAM MOOC for credit transfer.
